wpClassifieds is a free WordPress theme that transform a wordpress blog into a classified ads site.
I have known about this theme since long time ago, unfortunately who developed it lost the domain name and doesn’t have enough time to continue the project. Since he is one of the best contributors to the Open Classifieds software (he did the amazing work on the wpClassifieds theme for OC too), I have contacted him and today we have uploaded the wpClassifieds theme for WordPress in the site of Open Classifieds.
The development is based on Open Classifieds 1.5, therefore does not have the new features presented in the latest versions of Open Classifieds.
Some features:
- Publish ads without registration
- Publish ads with pictures
- Confirm new ads by email
- Edit ads after publish
- Unlimited categories and subcategories
- Translatable theme
- reCaptcha
- Akismet
- GPL License
Installation:
- Install WordPress.
- Download wpClassifieds and upload by FTP the folder “wpclassifieds” to your wp-content/themes/ directory.
- Change folder permissions of the directory “wpclassifieds/includes/cache” to 777.
- Create a new folder “wpclassifieds” in wp-content/uploads/ y change folder permissions to 777.
- Activate theme wpClassifieds in your wordpress admin panel.
- Go to the wpClassifieds Config section under “Appearance” menu to configure the theme
The theme is not available for download since its out of date and full of bugs. Download the standalone version.

What about those permissions? They are anything but safe. Is there any way to run it with 755? My client will never agree to 777.

after instaling this theme i changed the $ as RS and it is changed in the publishing page and but after completing the publishig process it is again as $

hello Chema, when i try to install the theme i get style.css does not exist, can you help on this one please? i also found some style.css in this package but when i try to use them i get style.css does not contain valid theme header

I can’t seem to get this to work… even using the instructions provided. After a week of trying, I must give up and try to find something else.
I just need a quick -free- theme that works with wordpress. Yes, I know the way to go is to buy one, but at this time, I am testing the classifieds idea on the site. I may not like it, or it may not work for the business. I really prefer not to put out money on something that may not even work out for me. So, I’m looking for something free and EASY to install with wordpress. If it all works out, then I’ll move over to the more high tech – paid themes.
