We are proud to announce we finished the beta testing phase and we are introducing the release candidate of Open Classifieds 2.0! So this mean not any big change before 2.0. stable only bug fixing.

During last weeks we were working really hard on all of the improvements. We had 69 beta testers and we received a lot of feedback. Thanks for all who got engaged in the process! It helped us to eliminate some bugs and to include few enhancements. In total we made 61 changes comparing to the Beta version. Some of the new features are listed below.

We’re getting really close to the launch of a stable version. Probably it will happen in about 2 weeks so keep your fingers crossed and be patient! In the meantime get familiar with the release candidate and feel free to comment and give us your feedback.

Best, Ewa

  1. deepak says:

biggest advantage of open-classified was its speed but it was, not it is.
i tested it (RC1) speed goes down as compare to version 1.x .
its speed equivalent to osclass which currently i am using.

  2. gfunk says:

OS ver 1.x was easy to install. But I had issues installing version 2 beta. gave up on that. Was hoping the RC 1 would be easier to install. Unfortunately not – Not sure if there you have had issues with it being installed on Zend :(

  3. Chema says:

    Hello,

Can you please elaborate about the speed matter? if you are testing in the demo reoc.clashost.com I need to say that work terrible since it’s a free hosting solution.

So far the tests we’ve done we get same results even better since we improve the DB design and the cache control + minified files + tons of optimizations if your server can handle gzip etc…

  4. Chema says:

    Hello,

What kind of trouble are you facing?

The installation is done in 1 step, I tried in 5 different hosting even in windows environment and not any problem. Actually if you check the code you will find that the installation is one of the few things that we reused.

Please elaborate so we can improve. Thanks

  5. gfunk says:

This is what initially gets displayed in the browser when attempting to install

    * @copyright (c) 2009-2013 Open Classifieds Team * @license GPL v3 */ include ‘functions.php’; include ‘install.php’; ?>

I’ve looked at the code and attempted to try and resolve but it just gets worse. I’m running a a windows machine with Zend Apache running on it.

  6. Chema says:

Your server is not interpreting the PHP. I tried in 5 different places and 1 windows not any problem, the installation is super simple. You can try it at clashost.

For windows if I remember well people uses normally xamp or wamp.
