Since long time a go I’ve been thinking in the future of OC and we need to move forward to grow more ;)
I think right now OC is a great product and is helping a lot of people, more than 100K downloads and thousands of sites running this software are the best indicators.
The biggest problem as development team we’ve been facing is the scalability of the code. This started as an small script with really limited functionality, that I used to learn PHP. Not best practices implemented and lot of technological debt that needs to be paid.
So as a resume, I can say that what we want to achieve with OC 2.0 is:
- Get same features as latest release
- Improve quality of code
- Have coding standards
- Do good code documentation
- Allow the project to evolve without big problems
- Create a configuration manager (the one we have right now is poor)
- Automatic upgrades
- Plugin system
For current users we will prepare as always an upgrade tool to make it super easy for you. The data model is not going to change much on this first release at least.
Project planning is going to be done using pivotal tracker. Is an easy way to handle stories and control which work is done. Link to the project. As you can see pretty empty so far, I’ll be creating stories as we need them.
So here is the branch for the new OC reloaded. If you want to get access to the repo as commiter please let me know.
The core (framework) for the application is going to be using Kohana 3.2.
I chose kohana over other frameworks for few reasons:
- Download size 3MB with everything included
- Great community
- Good documentation
- Readable core code
- Modules enabled
- Fast to learn (I already use it for other projects)
- Pure MVC

I want to give you suggestion that Also involve forum and blog in the script like the OC theme ……….
wld be great if following features can be added:
1. functionality of sponsored ads . Sponsored ads can be displayed at the top with some colour coding
2. Other related ads. If a user click on an ad, then software can suggest him other related ads he might be interested in
3. sms notifications on mobile handsets of users, if possible :)
4.Forum, blog

Teniendo en cuenta que has pedido ayuda, yo por mi parte voy a intentar aportar lo poco que puedo:
1º podrías añadir IF MODIFIED SINCE (es facil, pero si tines dudas me mandas un mail y te explico como hacerlo)
2º estaría bien, si no lo has hecho ya, que incluyas Google +1 (aunque esto no se visualiza en todos los navegadores)
3º Introducir nuevas fotos no debería eliminar las anteriores, se debería elegir eliminar las imágenes anteriores de forma manual (una por una pinchando en algún simbolito). Esto es algo que piden todos los usuarios.
OTRAS SUGERENCIAS:
1º el carrusel podría utilizarse para anuncios de pago, o en su defecto que sólo publique los anuncios con foto. O que la elección sea opcional para el administrador, (ya que mucha gente no pone fotos y queda horrible un carrusel sin fotos).
2º Tema neoMobile: agregar un espacio entre, busqueda avanzada y publicar un nuevo anuncio:

Rahmans suggestion are tops. If these could be integrated as well, no on could touch OC!
It would be great if we divide user categories in two major types
Buyer and Seller
OR
at one time user can play one role only BUYER OR SELLER
We can use existing Filter (Offer/Need) to implement the same.
It will make the account more logical.
For example when user login as Buyer so it will get to see only latest Offered items and list of items available for Sale and vice versa.
it would be great if have openID support.
Also apart from images uploading, document should also be feasible.
In account management it should be possible for user to manage long list of applicants.
I wish all well with OC 2.0 and look forward to the announcement. Once OC 2.0 operational and tested list me for a donation.

by default won’t be possible since almost any hosting by default allows this.
But we can have it almost ready for it, or just some little tweaking and working :D

2.0. it’s note released yet, once it’s released would be a migration tool so nobody loses the data at all.

adding the membership.we can set it in admin cpanel. every member group has different function or permission. i want use OC to build a b2b or b2c website.
I don’t think it’s going to be like that….needs to be lot more standard and you are the only one asking for such change.

SEO, we don’t know yet an specialist will look into it, don’t worry, still a really long way till it’s done.
in location category you can put the option to choose Region and city from the region. my country have 50 regions and each region 10-15 cities
Would it be possible in OC-2.0 to upload the docs also along with images… (while raising an advertisement and responding to it as well)?

you need to replace all the files and execute the update files in the install folder, using your browser ;)
When the only copy a version 1.7.6 in the install folder (website) OC, and I try to update the database, there is a mistake that we can not find the installation folder. Is the upgrade from 1.7.5 to 1.7.6 should remove the entire installation or just the upgrade package? thank you

Im not sure is this the right question to ask, is OC and OS both mainted by you or just any one of it is sponsoring other.
I would like to know is there anyways that we can shift from Open Classifieds to OS classifieds. I have around 100 cities and more than 2000 ads running currently. However I noticed that OS has its standard cities and countries also I want to use all the categories which are existing.

Wld be great if following features can be added:
1. For user who post ads without registration, system should auto generate password for that particular email id and has to be emailed to the user.
2. The email id and contact number should pop up automatically for the user who post multiple ads (Without login).
3. There should be options to move ads to top of the page.
4. Auto generated email for the ads which are getting expired and move to top of the page ads.
5. User should be able to read the messages received for the ads and send reply to the message from the my account page.
Hope the above features would help user to spend more time on website.
